Surface rejuvenation and improved bonding at crack interfaces
The Arizona Transportation Research Center evaluated PDC as part of an Interstate 40 pavement rejuvenation project.
Researchers reported that the treatment rejuvenated the asphalt surface and altered the characteristics of the asphalt mixture in a way that appeared to rebind crack interfaces. The observed performance exceeded the expectations of the district and research personnel involved.
