PDC was used as part of a collaborative project involving NASA, the British Royal Air Force and the U.S. Air Force at the Space Shuttle landing strip on Ascension Island.
The airfield includes a 15,000-foot runway, 1,000-foot overruns at each end and asphalt shoulders along both sides. The project demonstrates the use of PDC on large-scale aviation infrastructure where pavement performance is essential.
